FAQs

How much does it cost?

There is a standing cost of £15 per month and while we aim to keep the costs of camps and other activities as low as possible there are sometimes additional payments required. We do not want finances to be a blocker for anyone to access the activities we have available and can assist with costs if required.

Where do I get the uniform?

We will issue the full compliment of uniform to each of our cadets, usually within the first couple of months. You will need to purchase parade shoes and boots but further advice will be given on this during our open evening.

Does this mean I need to join the RAF?

No, although some of our cadets do move on to join the military in various ways we do not recruit for the RAF. If you would like to join the RAF we are able to help find people to talk to regarding particular roles.

How often do I need to attend?

During the first six months of training it is usually the most beneficial to attend both parade nights each week, this helps to develop friendships amongst your intake and stops you falling behind with training. We do ask each cadet to log absences via Cadet Portal if they are unable to attend but this will be explained to the cadets during their intake day.

Is it Safe?

Yes, All of our staff are DBS checked and first aid trained, although we very rarely need to use our first aid skills. Each of our activities is risk assessed and delivered by training competent members of staff or senior cadets (under the supervision of staff).

Can anyone join?

We can only take young people that are a minimum of 12 years old and in year 8 at school up to a maximum of 17 years old.

How do I sign up?

Use the link at the top of the page to register your interest and the Squadron Adjutant will get back to you with further details in due course.
